Deleting a sent email on Gmail does not prevent it from being delivered to the recipient. Once an email is sent, it immediately leaves your outbox and is delivered to the recipient’s inbox. Deleting it from your 'Sent Items' will only remove it from your view and will not affect the recipient's copy.
FAQs & Answers
- Can I unsend an email on Gmail after clicking send? Gmail offers an 'Undo Send' feature that allows you to cancel sending an email within a few seconds after hitting send, but once that time lapses, the email is delivered and cannot be unsent.
- What happens if I delete an email from my Gmail Sent folder? Deleting an email from your Gmail Sent folder only removes it from your view and does not delete the email from the recipient's inbox.
- Is there a way to prevent a sent Gmail email from being read? Once an email is sent and delivered, you cannot prevent the recipient from reading it unless both parties use a specialized email system with read controls.
