United is quite strict with overweight bags, generally enforcing their weight limits without much leniency. For most destinations, the weight limit for checked baggage is 50 pounds (23 kg) for Economy and 70 pounds (32 kg) for Business or First Class tickets. Bags exceeding these weights are subject to overweight fees, which can be substantial. To avoid surprises at the airport, it's best to weigh your luggage beforehand and redistribute items as necessary or consider paying for extra baggage in advance if you anticipate having overweight luggage.
